Regulations
SOLAS, Chapter III, Regulation 20.10 requires signage to identify the locations of lifesaving equipment in accordance with IMO recommendations. Symbols related to lifesaving devices and arrangements adopted by the IMO must refer to Resolutions A.760(18), MSC82(70), and A.952(23).

MSC / Circ. 777 states that "Assembly Station" holds the same meaning as "Muster Station."

Standard IMO designs can be used without text. This format is preferred when English is not the first language of passengers and crew.
