These signs are used in all work environments. There is no specific marine legislation regarding prohibition signs, but the ISPS code requires certain areas to have restricted access and be clearly marked.

Prohibition signs are widely used on board to inform crew, passengers, and visitors about onboard policies. They also highlight areas where experience or risk assessments have determined a need for prohibition notices.
